How the gauge works

Scores are editorial exposure-reduction preferences for a material and use—not a laboratory test, percent safety, or guarantee of being free from microplastics or endocrine disruptors. Unknown materials receive Not rated, not a made-up number.

Start with a category above, or search by product type.

What determines the score?

Food-contact surface and use temperature; known material composition; coatings, adhesives and additives; likelihood of repeated exposure; and how well the available evidence supports the comparison. We separate confidence from preference.

Specific brands and models cannot receive a verified score without reliable product specifications and, where appropriate, independent testing. An AI model may help organize evidence but cannot certify chemical absence.
