ADA & Accommodations

ᛉ ᛗ ᚨ

Reasonable Accommodation

The ADA can require changes that enable a qualified employee with a disability to perform essential job functions or enjoy equal employment benefits and privileges.

⏱

Modified Schedule

Adjusted arrival or departure times, part-time schedules or other schedule modifications can be forms of reasonable accommodation.

⚒

Equipment & Devices

Acquiring or modifying equipment or devices can be a reasonable accommodation.

↔

Job Restructuring

Adjusting how or when certain duties are performed may be appropriate, while essential job functions remain important.

ᚱ

Reassignment

Reassignment to a vacant position can be an accommodation in appropriate circumstances when accommodation in the current position is not effective.

Not automatic: ADA accommodation questions are individualized. The employee must be qualified for the position, and an employer does not have to provide an accommodation that would impose an undue hardship.
